Beverley Barn Wedding - Kirsty and Rich

Outdoor Ceremony at The Beverley Barn East Yorkshire

A relaxed, sunshine filled wedding at The Beverley Barn, East Yorkshire

The Beverley Barn in East Yorkshire is a venue that is very familiar to us. It’s close to home for us and somewhere we’re incredibly proud to be trusted suppliers, not only is it a beautiful space but it is also run by the best bunch of people who we regard as friends. Kirsty and Rich’s late Spring wedding here was everything The Beverley Barn does best, relaxed, full of heart, and completely unforced.

This day was blessed with mega weather with wall to wall sunshine all day, bright enough for guests to reach for their sunglasses and hot enough that even had a few getting their brollies out to use them as parasols. The all day sunshine meant guests could make the most of all of the indoor and outdoor spaces The Beverley Barn has to offer and set the tone for a day that was all about enjoying time together without any fuss.

A Laid-Back Morning in Beverley

Kirsty got ready just up the road from the Barn at a town house in the middle of Beverley that she found on Airbnb. The kitchen was the heart of the morning, flooded with light, full of conversation and big enough for everyone to be together and get ready in one room.

It never felt rushed, just a chilled atmosphere that encouraged conversation, for us it was a great time to chat and get to know everyone early in the day. By joining in and being present, everyone let us in and made us feel immediately part of the group, a feeling that continued all day and made everything that followed feel natural and comfortable, not just for Kirsty and Rich, but for everyone around them too.

An Outdoor Ceremony at The Beverley Barn

With the sun shining, Kirsty and Rich got their wish and were able to have their ceremony outdoors at The Beverley Barn, awaiting Kirsty’s arrival, guests settled into the bench seating and a few popped up brollies to strategically shade from the heat of the sun. The barn is perfect for couples who want to take things at their own pace, no pressure, encouraging people to relax and to be present in the moment.

It is the people that make the difference and the team at The Beverley Barn are a huge part of what makes the place so great. They’re warm, welcoming, and genuinely care about everyone involved in the day, guests, suppliers and of course wedding couples too! They go above and beyond quietly, without making a fuss, keeping the day flowing.

Colour, character and a cardboard guest

The day was full of colour, dresses in all shades, bright dried flowers and a general sense that nothing needed to match perfectly, it just needed to feel like them. Also we have to mention the pop of colour on Kirsty’s wedding dress which is one of the most unique dresses we’ve ever seen, paired effortlessly with shiny golden boots!

One of the most memorable elements of the day came courtesy of Kirsty’s brother, unfortunately he couldn’t make it back to England for the wedding so as a solution he was there in the form of a life sized cardboard cutout, making appearances throughout the day, sneaking into group photos and eventually being carried onto the dance floor for the party!

A Day Built Around Time Together

The warm weather meant guests naturally gathered outside, chilling on the benches and seats, enjoying a drink, sharing stories and enjoying being together. The relaxed nature of The Beverley Barn really shines in moments like this, it encourages connection without ever forcing the schedule.

We spent much of the day right in amongst it all, chatting with guests and moving through the day alongside everyone else. The joy for us with this relaxed approach is seeing moments unfold in front of us and documenting them in a way that is completely authentic to the people and to the day.

A short walk for relaxed couples portraits

For Kirsty and Rich, the priority was keeping the day flowing and being totally present in all of it, something that clicked well with our natural approach to wedding days. We took a couple of short walks around the venue and took photos along the way, seeing this time as an opportunity for Kirsty and Rich to have some time together for the day to sink in, keeping everything easy and conversational. With the daylight hours been long in May we took the second of these little walks just before the first dance with the sun coming down low and golden, one of our favourite places at this time of the day is the lane that runs alongside the venue, it is always really quiet and is a lovely little spot with big trees and wonderful light.

Also during this golden light, Kirsty and Rich had a game of Mr and Mrs, sitting back to back and answering questions using each other’s shoes. It turns out they know each other pretty well!

This time of the year at The Beverley Barn the first dance happens while you have the golden light pouring onto the dance floor from the setting sun outside, this light makes for a beautiful atmosphere for these big moments.

Staying for the Moments That Matter

There was no rush to disappear after the first dance, instead we gave the evening space to breathe and continued to document real moments as they happened around us. With the sun coming down and twilight settling in, we headed outside for sparklers, then back inside for live music and plenty of dancing, these moments all just as important as the earlier parts of the day.

A Day That Felt Completely Them

What stood out most about Kirsty and Rich’s wedding at The Beverley Barn was how true it felt to them. Nothing felt forced or performative, just a joyful, colourful day centred around people, connection and having a really good time together!

As Kirsty later shared:

“It felt like two mates arrived and got snapping… They really did feel like two extra guests who happened to have some fancy camera equipment.”
